CIRCLE-2 MOUNTain Mid-Term Meeting


Topic : Climate change impacts

Meeting‘s objective :
Needs and opportunities in climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation research in mountain areas”.

The Meeting‘s objective is to present the Mid-Term results of four funded projects within the frame of the CIRCLE-2 MOUNTain Sub-Network. Furthermore the participants of this meeting shall discuss and identify opportunities for joint research, sharing of knowledge and identify certain ways on how to communicate research outcomes to create more policy relevance. The outcomes of the workshop should support the development of a climate change and adaptation policy on a transnational scale.

In collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Mountain Research (IGF) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the workshop is organized in the frame of the CIRCLE-2 ERA network that comprises different national climate change impacts, vulnerability and adaptation research programmes in Europe. The CIRCLE-2 MOUNTain Sub-Network is coordinated by the Environment Agency Austria (EAA).

CIRCLE-2 is supported by the EU’s 7th framework programme – the four presented transnational research projects have been funded by the following national research funders : BMWF – Austria, MEEDDM – France, MICINN – Spain and FORMAS - Sweden

The RESULTS of the workshop shall be followed up in a papers highlighting the outcomes as well as a set of recommendations and research needs for the EU (FP8), transnational (CIRCLE-2, Alpine Space Programme) and various national research programmes.
